Pitchfork: Day 2 (GWYL Recap)
The heat has come. With the temperatures slowly rising, day two of Pitchfork is packed and sweaty. However, the slow heat didn't stop the crowds as they slammed on free Lifeway popsicles and tried their hand at love at the OkCupid station. Regardless, best of luck to these couples in the next hour of their relationship timeline.
As the heat dwindles down, many gather around the Green Stage to see the legendary group, A Tribe Called Quest. With a release early this year, We Got It From Here...Thank You 4 Your Service, people are excited to see new and old material from these legends.
And legends they are.
With no lasers, hype man, or smoke machines, ATCQ introduces themselves to a crowded field. Especially with the death of Phife Dawg, one may think he energy is low but the group pays homage to their old friend throughout the entire set. Even with a brief slip during “Find A Way”, the trio was able to throw out classics such as “Dis Generation. Consequence even busts out a verse from “Spaceship” a one shot from our beloved Chicagoan, Kanye West. ATCQ never left y’all. Their performance shows how hungry they are and reminder to us once again why hip hop still echoes their name.
Final day tomorrow! With headliners Joey Purp, Isaiah Rashad, and my main boo, Solange.
